Whether you are increasing the insulation levels in your current home or selecting insulation for a new home, Knott Insulation, Inc. is the name you can trust servicing the blown in insulation needs of all of North Central Texas and DFW.
Is your home over 20 years old?
Yes, you probably have the old type of attic insulation that deteriorates.
Can you see the tops of your ceiling joists inside the attic?
Yes, then you probably have less than 5 inches of insulation.
Does your heating and cooling unit not keep your home comfortable?
Yes, then you probably have less insulation then what is recommended.
Loose-fill Insulations are sold in bags and are blown in attic cavities using special equipment. The material's resistance to heat flow is expressed as its R-Value. The higher the R-value, the better the material insulates, and the greater the thickness you will need. Building codes in North Texas recommends R-30 to R-38 of attic insulation. The US Department of Energy recommends R-49 for homes in North Central Texas.
We offer two types of Loose-fill insulation (blown in insulation):
Fiberglass loose-fill is spun from molten glass into fibers. The glass is typically melted in high-temperature gas furnaces.
Cellulose loose-fill is made from wastepaper, such as used newsprint and boxes, which is shredded and pulverized into small, fibrous particles. Chemicals are added to provide resistance to fire and insects.
